Radio Glan Clwyd began in the Alexandra Hospital in Rhyl in 1976, where just a handful of volunteers used very basic equipment to transmit radio programmes to Hospital patients. The Volunteers would visit the wards, collect requests and
introduce them.
Over the years, the number of volunteers
increased, funds were raised to buy more sophisticated equipment, and
when Glan Clwyd Hospital opened, the radio service moved to its new
home.
Now its based on the first floor of Glan Clwyd Hospital,
with a reception, office and studio. Over 40 hours of live programmes
are broadcast every week, and when there are no live shows then our
friendly computer plays out a variety of music and information 24/7.
Radio
Glan Clwyd broadcasts on 1287 am and patients and staff can pick this
up on their own mw radios or small target turners that are provided free
of charge.
